Margin and food-cost software for restaurants
Supplier invoices are photographed and read by AI, till sales are imported, and the true cost of every dish is calculated — through to the profit and loss account and a thirteen-week cash forecast.

A costing spreadsheet goes wrong without anything flagging it
A cost price worked out by hand always produces a number. The trouble is that it stays plausible even when it is wrong — and a selling price gets set on it for months. Three mistakes turn up in almost every spreadsheet we open:
- Losses are added instead of divided.
A 50% trim loss doubles the cost of the product; it does not
raise it by half. The correct formula is
quantity × price ÷ (1 − loss);× (1 + loss)understates it every time, and the heavier the trimming, the worse it gets. - Food cost is taken from purchases rather than from consumption — opening stock + purchases − closing stock. A month spent filling the cellar then looks catastrophic, and the next one excellent, without a single dish having changed.
- Supplier prices go stale. A recipe card built in January and never reopened describes a menu that no longer exists as soon as two or three prices have moved.
What Margeo works out for you
- Supplier invoices read by AI — photograph the invoice: the product, the quantity and the price per kilo are read and matched to your catalogue. No re-keying, and the prices on your recipe cards follow by themselves.
- True cost price per dish, with trim losses divided rather than added, and cost taken from what was actually consumed.
- Margin per dish and per menu category, with price spread by the Omnès method — a French menu-pricing approach, not to be confused with Anglo-Saxon menu engineering, which ranks dishes on margin × popularity and answers a different question.
- Monthly profit and loss account kept up to date without re-keying, with till sales imported as CSV.
- Thirteen-week cash forecast — the horizon that lets you see a gap coming before it arrives.
- Stocktaking and cellar: stock is a sum of movements — last count plus everything since — not a counter, which would lose its history the day it goes wrong.
Who it is for
Independent restaurants, bars, brasseries and caterers who track their margins in a spreadsheet, or who have stopped tracking them at all. Margeo suits a single site as well as a small group: each site has its own data, its own suppliers and its own profit and loss account.
What it replaces
The folder of recipe cards, the food-cost spreadsheet, manual invoice entry, and the monthly meeting with the accountant where you discover the result six weeks after the event. The eight free calculators give a taste of the same maths, with no account to create.
Frequently asked questions
Do invoices have to be re-keyed?
No. They are photographed and read. That is what makes the method survive: margin tracking that costs an hour of data entry a week gets abandoned within a month.
Does Margeo replace my till system?
No, it complements it. Sales are imported from your till as CSV; Margeo handles what a till does not calculate — the cost of what was sold.
What about my accountant?
They stay your accountant. Margeo gives you the profit and loss account mid-month, while a decision is still possible; the statutory accounts come afterwards.
Is my data isolated from other restaurants?
Yes, by design: every query runs in the context of your own site, and a query with no context returns no rows rather than all of them.
Is the software available in English?
The interface is in French today. Demos, onboarding and support are in English, and we localise the interface on request as part of a project. Say so in the form below and we will walk you through it.

Margeo is ready
It opens in a new tab, on its own site — you create an account there once, separately from this one. The interface is in French for now; ask us and we will take you through it in English.
